FIRST® Tech Challenge // Rookie Season 2026–2027

We are a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team in our rookie year, community-based in Southwest Florida. We are high school students who love science, engineering, technology and math — we build robots from scratch, and we believe STEM is for everyone.

[What We Do]

How a season runs

We are a competitive Robotics Team in the Southwest Florida League in FIRST Tech Challenge. Each season, starting in September, FIRST releases the Season Game and rules. This year is titled FIRST Canopy BIOBUZZ. We will then design, build, and compete our robot locally, regionally, then hopefully at the State Level and beyond.

[ 01 / Kickoff ]September

The season is revealed

FIRST Canopy BIOBUZZ is released along with the rules. Every team in the world gets the same game on the same day — the build starts here.

[ 02 / CAD ]September – October

Model the whole robot

We assemble the full robot in OnShape before ordering parts, checking reach, interference and gear ratios digitally.

[ 03 / Build ]October – December

Fabricate and assemble

Structural channel, custom panels and 3D-printed parts come together. Mechanisms get prototyped, tested and rebuilt.

[ 04 / Code ]November – January

Program in Java

Autonomous routines and driver-controlled logic, tuned against real match conditions on the practice field.

[ 05 / Compete ]League season

Local, regional, state

We compete locally and regionally in the Southwest Florida League, then hope to push on to the State level and beyond.

[ 06 / Outreach ]Year round

Share robotics

Demos, community events and our outreach robot take robotics out of the workshop and into Southwest Florida.

[Our Robot]

Built to move, coded to score

Our season robot for FIRST Canopy BIOBUZZ — designed in OnShape, fabricated in our workshop, and coded in Java. It runs a mecanum drivetrain for full-field movement, with a 3D-printed intake mounted up front.
