Competition Robot

FIRST Canopy BIOBUZZ

Our season robot for FIRST Canopy BIOBUZZ — designed in OnShape, fabricated in our workshop, and coded in Java. It runs a mecanum drivetrain for full-field movement, with a 3D-printed intake mounted up front.

Chassis
Perforated structural channel, custom panels
Drivetrain
Four mecanum wheels, yellow hubs
Motors
GOBILDA 5203 Series Yellow Jacket
Intake
3D-printed intake wheels on a curved scoop
Design
Full assembly modeled in OnShape
Programming
Java on Android-powered control hardware
Assembly on the practice mat
OnShape assembly render

Faster Than Light

Community demo robot

Our summer outreach robot, still in progress. It is designed to take in and shoot balls, and its goal is to share robotics with the community. As a team we brainstorm ideas, plan, design and make robots from start to finish — this one exists to get people excited about STEM.

Purpose
Community demos and outreach events
Mechanism
Ball intake and shooter
Drivetrain
Four mecanum wheels
Design
Modeled in OnShape before fabrication
Fabrication
3D-printed custom parts + structural channel

[How We Build]

Design, prototype, fabricate, code

A full CAD assembly before we cut a single part, and rapid prototyping after — the same engineering process used in industry, scaled down to a 12-foot field.

01

Design in OnShape

Every robot is modeled as a complete assembly so each phase is accurate before any part is ordered.

02

Prototype fast

Mechanisms get built quickly, tested hard, and thrown away when they don't hold up. Rapid prototyping finds the good ideas.

03

Fabricate

We build from reusable structural channel and custom 3D-printed parts, assembled and rewired in our workshop.

04

Program in Java

Autonomous and driver-controlled code runs on Android-powered control hardware, then gets tuned in the pit between matches.
